Artifex

Florencio Yllana is a privately collected international artist, recognized for using a phosphorescent infusion into highly detailed hand painted works that branch from symbolic, illustrative, conceptual, abstract, and natural themes.        " As a Phillippine born, American ex-patriate to Brazil, I have been exposed to myriad influences and styles of expression. Highly influenced by visionary art, but also to constant exposure to International museums in earlier years. My work has branched from glowing environment installations, comic book art, and graffiti; to the symbolists and decadents, as well as the surrealists, and abstract expressionists. Attending the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the mid nineties, I delved deeper into the finer aesthetics of various mediums, from Photography to Performance; Time-Arts and Design."

The new millenium has been spent in between the States, Europe and Brazil exposing in various galleries/events and running an Art/Guesthouse on Bahia's exclusive discovery coast with his wife, celebrated Brazilian author Antonella Yllana ( AntonellaYllana.com ) and son Mahal.

. "I use the natural tools of gesture, accident, direction, balance, composition, contour, and chaos."

There is a massive bow to synesthesia as the painter balances frequencies and wavelengths on memories of notes, scent, flavor, and chromophilia using an assortment of modern mediums. Metallics, Gold/Copper/Silver foil, Iridescent, Incandescent, phosphorescent, relief, resins and fluid acrylics are all generously applied to time layered canvases that have alchemized into exquisite portals representing the selfless, timeless, flow of the artist's exstasis into nature and the machine.

"I use the natural forces of gesture, gravity, accident, direction, balance, composition, contour, and chaos; combined with elements of apophenia and pareidolia; to essentially connect the viewer with the invisible movements all-around us. Furthermore I fossilize flow states to present to the viewer, realms of perception and current, that uncover layers of dimensions that exist within the conditions of microcosm and macrocosm."
