Poems and Painting

A long time ago I had the idea to try and paint old poems. In the past six years the challenge was to identify a metaphor with concept and color. There were various works that attempted to use the written word directly into the painting process which was in itself a very satisfying experience since I rather enjoy graffiti scripting and lettering . The Poem Painting series were definitely a success and resonated with some loyal patrons and I plan to introduce a variety of concepts moving in this direction. However works that have no calligraphy or identifying imagery, have been taking my attention since 2014 after opening my first retail gallery in a tourist village in Bahia. Perhaps it was some shamanic experiences I had in the rainforests, or some rather acute wanderings in the astral dimensions. I look back at the whole series of paintings I did pre MMXIV and could hardly muster up the energy to paint simple portraiture anymore. These paintings where I represented figures, and stories of grand personal symbolism garnered a loyal following, and I admittedly at times feel like I have abandoned my old gifts. However recently I have had a new fire to resurrect old canvases and infuse the elements of my new evolutions. We shall see where this remastering takes me. Back to the laboratory!
